Felipe Buitrago

Vice-minister of Creativity and the Orange Economy, MinCultura

Felipe Buitrago is an economist who graduated from the Andes University and holds a Master's degree in International Public Politics from the John Hopkins University. He has co-authored the books "The Orange Economy" and "The No Collar Economy." Also, he has collaborated in more than dozens of studies and researches around the world and has written numerous articles on creative and cultural industries. This expertise has established him as a reference at a national and international level on this matter.

Currently, he serves as the Vice-minister of Creativity and the Orange Economy at the Colombian Ministry of Cultural Affairs, a position he has been holding since 2019. Before (until the end of August 2018), he served as Presidential Adviser for Economic and Strategic Affairs.

He has 18 years of experience working in the cultural sector and has participated in the designing, implementation, and evaluation of public policies for the development of creative ventures and the appropriation of new technologies. An agenda he has been clearly promoted in the positions he has held, such as the Director of TicTac - the think tank of the Colombian Chamber of Information and Communication, the Adviser of the Cultural, Solidarity, and Creative Affairs Division at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB,) as the Director of the Intellectual Property Ibero-American Observatory (ODAI,) and at Developing Creative Economies Programme Manager at the British Council in London.
