Carlos Smith
Carlos Smith is an Audio Visual Director and Producer, and founder of SMITH & SMITH and HIERROANIMACION Animation Studios.
His films have won him multiple awards and prizes in many festivals around the world like Annecy, Hiroshima, Anima Mundi, Japan Prize, Prix Jeunesse, Oberhausen, and INPUT, among others.
He is an experienced professor. He has served as a professor at the Nacional University, the Javeriana University, the Andes University, and for eight years, he has served as professor and academic coordinator of the Master's program in Animation at the Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Currently, he is the Director of the School of Computer Animation at Veritas University in San Jose, Costa Rica.
His animation series "Old Folk's Tales" won the Best Transmedia Project Award at MIFA's call for projects in 2011. The series was also part of the official selection at Annecy in the category for best TV series and got two India Catalina Awards. His series "The Girls of the War" (2106) also won the India Catalina Award and were additionally nominated at Annecy under the same category. Besides, his animated series for kids "Troubling Monsters" presented at the Cartoon Forum in To lose (2014), was also praised by the magazines Variety, Animation Magazine, and TBI Vision.
Carlos just finished producing the second season of his Sci-Fi series "Gravity 1," and he is also finishing his first feature film "The Other Shape."
