Santiago is a partner of 500 Startups. He has actively participated in more than 160 investments in Spanish-speaking Latin America since 2011. In addition to leading 500 Startups’ investment strategy and operations in Latin America, he actively participates in investment committees of several funds and is an active member of advisory boards of private and governmental institutions such as Proeza and Liil Ventures and previously to INADEM. 

Before joining 500, Santiago founded Mexican.vc, one of the first VC firms to provide capital to early stage founders in Mexico. He was also  software developer for more than seven years and participated as a founder and organizer of several code development communities.

Santiago has created processes and technological tools to manage thousands of applications that 500 Startups receives from portfolio companies each year and the way in which the portfolio companies of the Predecessor Luchadores Funds provide value to the portfolio. 

Santiago regularly participates in entrepreneurship communities as an international speaker, judge, facilitator and organizer, including in events such as SXSW, Inc. Monterrey, Startup Weekend, etc. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Mechatronics and is a member of Kauffman Fellows (Class 21)

Hitos: Vice President of Alliances and Channels at Oracle Fabiano Matos became Oracle’s Vice-president of Strategic Partnerships and Channels for Central and South America in March 2019. Prior to his position, he was Oracle’s Systems unit Sales VP. Fabiano joined Oracle in October 2012 as Senior Systems Director for the Brazil operation. Previously, he worked at IBM for 17 years, with responsibilities in the x86 Servers Unit, Hardware Operations Manager for Latin America, Workplace Services Sales Executive, and Sales and Systems Strategy Executive, among other sales roles in the sales, pre-sales and operations management. Matos is a Business Administrator from Universidad Estatal de Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and holds a Masters degree in Sales Management from the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets.
